The World Petroleum Council is the only international organization representing all aspects of the petroleum sector. It was established in 1933 with the intent to promote the management of the world’s petroleum resources for the benefit of mankind. The World Petroleum Council’s prime function is to catalyse and facilitate dialogue among stakeholders – both internal and external to the petroleum industry – on key technical, social, environmental and management issues in order to contribute towards seeking solutions to those issues.
Through responsible actions and close cooperation with all stakeholders the oil and gas industry will be able to contribute to sustainable solutions. The World Petroleum Council will be bringing together industry over 600 leaders to discuss and demonstrate best available technology and practices in order to minimize impacts and risks to the people and environments where we operate around the world. The main conference topics will cover innovation technologies for sustainable development of resources, responsible operations, low carbon solutions, leadership initiatives, regulation and cooperation.
The triennial World Energy Congress has gained recognition as the premier global forum for leaders and thinkers to debate solutions for energy issues since the first event back in 1924. Recognized as the world’s premier energy gathering, its member list includes governments, businesses and expert organizations. In addition to the discussions, the event will provide a range of opportunities for executives from the energy sector to showcase their technologies and to explore business opportunities. With the last Congress held in Istanbul in 2016 under the theme "Embracing New Frontiers", the event has now taken place in 21 major cities around the world since its founding.> Download the Press Release
